2023 Secretary for Foreign Affairs Cup Invitational Golf Tournament Launched

14 April 2023 – The 2023 Secretary of Foreign Affairs Cup invitational golf tournament, with the Ayala Corporation as title sponsor, will be held at the Ayala Greenfields Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna on 26 June 2023, according to Ambassador Isaias Begonia, president of the Department of Foreign Affairs Retired Personnel Association Incorporated (DFARFI), organizer of the tournament. The tournament is a fund-raiser for the health and wellness program of the foundation providing the DFA retired rank and file employees illness-preventive and health-maintenance services and assistance in coping with heavy hospitalization expenses.

Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo has been invited to be the guest of honor and speaker and to award the SFA cup and other prizes to the winners at the awarding ceremonies.

The 2023 tournament rides on the success of the previous three organized by DFARFI - 2014 in Wack-Wack, 2017 in Sta, Elena, and 2020 at the Ayala Greenfields. DFARFI expects to gather 144 players from among Filipino active and retired diplomats, foreign ambassadors and other members of the diplomatic and consular community of Manila, national and local government officials, retired generals and officers of the Armed Forces and the National Police, as well as business and industrial leaders.

“The generous response of sponsors and supporters to the DFARFI campaign is a fitting recognition of the long and dedicated services DFA retirees have rendered to the country, often in dangerous circumstances.” Begonia said.
