Call for Nominations for the Seventh Executive Member of the National Innovation Council
18 April 2023 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) invites business organizations, research institutes, and academic institutions to nominate one (1) qualified individual to be an executive member of the National Innovation Council (NIC) whose expertise is on climate change. The call for nominations is open until 28 April 2023.
The Republic Act (RA) No. 11293, known as the Philippine Innovation Act, declares the policy of the State to foster innovation as a vital component of national development and sustainable economic growth. Pursuant to Section 6 of RA 11293, the creation of NIC comprising of 18 national government agencies shall include seven (7) Executive Members from the ranks of business, entrepreneur, academe, and the scientific community, and at least one (1) of whom shall be a woman.
Recognizing the importance of climate change and its impact on innovations and sustainability, the last remaining seat for NIC Executive Members shall be given to a qualified individual whose expertise is preferably on climate change who will bring an environmental and sustainability perspective to the Council and contribute to the country’s innovation initiatives.
