Philippines and Japan Sign Agreement on Scholarship Grant for Filipino Civil Servants

PASAY 23 June 2023 – Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko signed today the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship 2023, academic year 2024-2025.

The scholarship grant amount covered by this Exchange of notes is valued at JPY 313 million, or approximately PhP 127,234,500, in support of young and promising leaders from various Philippine government agencies to pursue graduate studies in Japan as JDS fellows.

The JDS grant is Japan’s long-standing scholarship program that supports young officials in the Philippine civil service who will take up two-year Master's degree courses at prominent Japanese universities. The JDS scholarship program has so far benefitted 439 scholars from the Philippines since its initial implementation in 2002. END.
