CO Legazpi Observes National Disaster Resilience Month with Mayon Evacuees
26 July 2023 – In observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) and in solidarity with Albayanos affected by the recent Mayon Volcanic activity, DFA Consular Office Legazpi personnel visited the evacuees currently staying at the San Jose National High School in Malilipot, Albay on 22 July 2023. The 248 evacuees (66 families) are from Barangay San Roque in Malilipot, Albay.
CO Legazpi distributed mineral water-filled gallons to each family, conducted feeding programs, and organized games participated in by children and adults.
As part of its Gender and Development program, CO Legazpi also invited representatives from the Malilipot Municipal Police Station to brief the evacuees on Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act) and Republic Act No. 11313 (The Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law).
CO Legazpi's NDRM activity was made possible through the assistance of San Roque Barangay Officials, the Malilipot Municipal Social Welfare Development Office, Malilipot Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Malilipot Police Station and the RCO Bicol Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative. END
