DFALF, Tesoro’s Celebrate Philippine Independence and Heritage through Filipiniana Doll-Making Competition

MANILA 31 July 2023 – In honor of the 125th Philippine Independence Day on 12 June 2023, the DFA Ladies Foundation Inc. (DFALF) hosted a captivating Filipiniana Doll Making Competition that aimed to showcase the beauty of Filipiniana fashion through the art of doll making while providing an opportunity for members and their dependents to exhibit their artistic talent and creativity.

Nine (9) doll creations were submitted for the competition, each reflecting different facets of Philippine culture and heritage. Among the entries were dolls dressed in traditional Maria Clara and Filipino Muslim attire, paying tribute to the country's diverse cultural influences. Additionally, one doll donned the iconic Baro't Saya, while six (6) other creations featured modern takes on the timeless terno designs.

The success of the Filipiniana Doll Making Competition was also made possible by the invaluable assistance provided by the DFA Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy (OPCD). Skillfully handling the photo and video coverage of the doll entries, the OPCD added an extra layer of professionalism and charm to the event.

The Filipiniana Doll Making Competition marks yet another successful endeavor by DFALF in promoting cultural appreciation and nurturing artistic talent within its community.

As the organization continues its efforts in championing Filipino culture, it seeks to create more opportunities for its members to express their creativity and foster a deeper sense of pride in their heritage. END
