Philippines, Hungary Diplomatic Relations Celebrated through Book Launch of Translated Poetry

TAGUIG 02 August 2023 – Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs Jesus S. Domingo represented the Department of Foreign Affairs at the book launching of “Hindi Pasisiil and Pagsibol” at the Hungarian Embassy in Taguig City. The book is a collection of classic Hungarian poems translated into various Philippine languages, and is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-Hungary relations.

In his speech, Undersecretary Domingo remarked on the blooming of relations between the two countries, and noted the similarities between Philippine national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Hungary’s poet/ revolutionary Sandor Petofi, both of whom brought change to their nations through their writings. The book is a project of the Hungarian Embassy, the Petofi Cultural Agency, and the Ateneo de Naga University. END
