DFA Congratulates Graduates of Youth Volunteer Ambassadors Externship Programme
09 AUGUST 2023 – The DFA congratulates the newest batch of graduates of the Volunteer Ambassador (VAMBA) Externship Programme. The Department, in partnership with the Diplomatic League (D-League), successfully conducted the Programme that is envisioned to equip its participants to be an effective advocate of diplomacy, to inform them of career opportunities in the field of diplomacy, and to prepare them to take the DFA Foreign Service Officer Examination.
This batch is composed of thirty-eight (38) undergraduate students from different universities, and young professionals engaged in diverse fields. The participants successfully completed a series of modules covering a wide range of topics on diplomacy, foreign policy, foreign service, national security, among others.
In his message to the graduates during the online culminating activity held last 29 July 2023, D-League adviser and founder Undersecretary Jesus “Gary” Domingo encouraged them to continue promoting “Universal Diplomacy” in their chosen career paths. Universal Diplomacy is the core philosophy of D-League which is the realization of a planet of peaceful, prosperous, and purposeful people.
Undersecretary Domingo also announced that the DFA together with the D-League will conduct another VAMBA Programme this year, and he invited young international affairs enthusiasts to participate.
The D-League is a global youth, volunteer young professional engagement platform that prides itself as the primary institution for developing diplomacy as a practice in the sector of the youth. The DFA, through the Office of the Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs (OUCSCA), collaborates with the D-League as part of its youth outreach efforts in support of the Philippine Youth Development Plan. OUCSCA, as the supervisory office for civilian security, consular officers, overseas voting and migrant affairs, recognizes that the youth sector is an important stakeholder in the execution of OUCSCA’s mandate and that youth empowerment initiatives would have positive contributions towards this end.
