PH Embassy in Cairo Successfully Repatriates Six Filipino Evacuees from Sudan

CAIRO 29 August 2023 – From 16 to 17 August 2023, six Filipino evacuees were successfully repatriated from Sudan. They crossed through the Egypt-Sudan border in Qustul and arrived in the Philippines on 18 August 2023.

After the requisite security clearances have been secured and the evacuees were granted temporary entry into Egypt, the Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) team traveled to Aswan and met them at the Qustul border.

In total, 818 Filipinos left Sudan through the assistance of the Philippine government since the start of the Sudan conflict in April 2023.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Cairo continue to advise all Filipinos who are still in Sudan to leave the country immediately to ensure their safety. END
