DFA, OPAPRU Hold Meeting on the Peace Process

OPAPRU Secretary Galvez and DFA Undersecretary Jose lead senior officials from both agencies in a discussion on how the DFA can support OPAPRU programs and initiatives.

MANILA 23 October 2023 – Senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) met on 20 October 2023 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to discuss the successes of the peace process and explore joint initiatives to further peace and development in Mindanao.

OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. provided a detailed update on the peace process, while DFA Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and International Economic Relations Charles Jose reaffirmed support through the continued engagement of the DFA, its foreign service posts, and the international community.

Participants, who included officials from Philippine Embassies and Consulates attending online, also shared insights and comments on the Philippine peace process and how it is viewed and perceived by the international community.  Peace-building initiatives with partner countries and international agencies were also discussed. 

Both agencies committed to work more closely together to support the peace and development of Mindanao. END
