Philippines and Japan Sign Non-Project Grant Aid for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao

MANILA 03 November 2023 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko signed and exchanged today the Diplomatic Notes on the Non-Project Grant Aid (NPGA) from Japan for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The Exchange of Notes, signed and exchanged, is valued at JPY 957 million (or approximately USD 6.8 million or PhP 376 million).

The NPGA for the Acquisition of Construction Equipment for Road Network Improvement/implementation and Disaster Quick Response Operation aims to provide assistance in relief operations, such as restoration and cleaning vital access roads, bridges and waterways, as well as provide assistance in relief operations during calamities and disasters. It also aims to mitigate the impact of flooding aggravated by climate change in the Bangsamoro region. END
