DFA-OP Conducts Protocol Training Caravan in Cagayan De Oro

CAGAYAN DE ORO 06 February 2024 – The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Protocol (DFA-OP) conducted a two-day training-workshop from 12 to 13 December in Cagayan de Oro City to cap off the Training Caravan on Basic Diplomatic and Government Protocol for this year.

The OP Training Caravan team headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary and Executive Director Mary Jennifer D. Dingal, along with Acting Director Siegfred T. Masangkay and Protocol Officers Mr. Francis R. Villamin and Mr. Paulo S. Enriquez covered various protocol lecture topics including basic protocol procedures and practices, socials graces and etiquette, mounting social events, as well as conference management. Day two of the training-workshop focused on simulation exercises on frequently mounted ceremonial and social events to ensure the knowledge retention of the participants. 

The Mindanao leg of the Training Caravan was hosted by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando A. Uy, and facilitated with the assistance of the DFA Consular Office in Cagayan de Oro headed by Ms. Maria Theresa U. Tamayo-Almirante.

Close to 50 participants from Local Government Units (LGU), Regional Government Agencies and DFA Consular Offices in the Mindanao regions participated in the onsite -workshop training. Almost the same number participated through the virtual classroom.

DFA-OP conducted the Training Caravan on Basic Diplomatic and Government Protocol to accommodate the training requests from LGUs, National Government Agencies, and other partner institutions, and to prepare the latter in hosting high-level events, including the provision of protocolar services for foreign counterparts and other VIPs.

Aside from the Training Caravan, DFA-OP has conducted more than 30 training this year, both domestic and abroad for various stakeholders, partner agencies, and a foreign ministry. END

The participants actively participated in the simulation exercises, including a signing ceremony simulation.
