DFA Office of Consular Affairs Conducts Passport on Wheels (POW) in Tawi-Tawi

PARAÑAQUE 08 FEBRUARY 2024 – In line with the department’s commitment to serve passport applicants in areas with limited access to consular services, the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) facilitated Passport On Wheels (POW), in collaboration with the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government, from  09 to 12 January 2024 at Datu Amirbahar Jaafar Convention Center in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. 

During the program, a total of 2,213 applicants from the municipalities of Bongao, Tandubas, Simunul, Sitangkai, Sibutu, Turtle Islands, Sapa-Sapa, Mapun, and South Ubian were served. 

DFA Undersecretary Jesus S. Domingo conveyed his support for the objective of the Provincial Government Office (PGO) in promoting international travel of its constituents from Tawi-Tawi. He also emphasized the initiative to bring consular services closer to the people and contribute to reducing the cost of passport services. Lastly, Usec Domingo highlighted that this activity provides the residents with another form of official identification.

In his remarks, Governor Ysmael I. Sali expressed his gratitude to the DFA and other government agencies for collaborating on the activity with the vision of “#TawiTawitotheWorld”. 

The DFA and Provincial Government Office of Tawi-Tawi commit to maintaining their collaborative effort in providing passport services to Filipino citizens in Tawi-Tawi. END
