DFA Launches Passport Satellite Office in SM City Consolacion, Cebu

Cebu 22 February 2024 - The Department of Foreign Affairs launched on 19 February 2024 the first Passport Satellite Office (PSO) in SM City Consolacion which made available an additional 4,000 appointment slots per month for the people of Cebu City and nearby provinces.
The opening ceremony was led by Atty. Anika A. Fernandez, Head of Consular Office, with the Guest of Honor, Mayor Teresa “Nene” Pepito Alegado of the Municipality of Consolacion. Also, present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Mr. Benjamin B. Tibon, Municipal Administrator, Ms. Michelle Leslie K. Llanos, Vice President for Mall Operations of SM Supermalls, and Ms. Estrella I. Wamilda, Mall Manager of SM City Consolacion.
In her remarks, Atty. Annika A. Fernandez, Head of Consular Office Cebu, highlighted that the establishment of PSO is aligned with the continuing efforts of the DFA to make passport services more convenient and accessible to the public.
Ms. Michelle Leslie K. Llanos, Vice President for Mall Operations of SM Supermalls, gave her appreciation to the DFA’s efforts in bringing passport services closer to the people of Consolacion. She affirmed SM Supermalls’ commitment to partnering with LGUs and the government in bringing services nearer to the community.
“As long as the mall is open, we will be extending our support and they can count on a very convenient and safe place where they can get their passport services,” she added.
Mayor Teresa “Nene” Pepito Alegado regarded the DFA as a sensitive agency that listened to the cry of the people as there is a great demand for passport services in the province of Consolacion. Mayor Alegado extended her gratitude to the DFA and stated that the opening of the PSO is a new development, a new service, and a new gift to the people of Consolacion and the entire province of Cebu.
Initially, PSO Cebu – SM City Consolacion, a purely appointments-based passport facility, is expected to serve 150 to 200 applicants daily and will gradually increase the offered appointment slots in the coming months.
