PASAY 26 February 2024 - The Department of Foreign Affairs, through its Department Legislative Liaison Unit (DLLU), launched the Foreign Policy Address series at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini on 20 February 2024 with Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri as the inaugural speaker and guest of honor.
Senate President Zubiri spoke before a fully packed Bulwagan to an audience of diplomatic corps members, government officials, academics and representatives of think-tanks, on constitutional reform and its implications on economic diplomacy.
The Senate President emphasized the need to advance the openness of the Philippines to foreign investors while keeping in mind the safeguards for social welfare of its citizens.
Senator Zubiri also highlighted the alignment of the nation’s policies in navigating the complexities of the contemporary global dynamics, striking a delicate balance between economic advancement and the protection of the Philippines’ foreign policy interests.
The Foreign Policy Address is a platform of the Department to provide Congressional leaders a channel to deliver the discourse on the current legislative agenda as it relates to Philippine Foreign Policy, with the aim of deepening the engagement and to enrich the dynamics between foreign policy and legislation.
