Sixth Informal Consultations on the Philippines - Singapore Action Plan Held in Manila

MAKATI 26 February 2024 – The Philippines and Singapore convened the 6th Informal Consultations on the Philippines-Singapore Action Plan (IC-PSAP) on 20 February 2024 in Makati City.
The Philippine delegation was headed by DFA Asian and Pacific Affairs Assistant Secretary Aileen S. Mendiola-Rau while the Singaporean delegation was headed by Singapore Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs for Southeast Asia and ASEAN Foo Chi Hsia.
During the said meeting, both sides had a productive discussion building on the gains of previous discussions on political-security, economic cooperation and people-to-people cooperation while exploring new avenues for cooperation in the fields of energy, climate change, health and maritime domain. Both sides also had a fruitful discussion on relevant and pressing regional issues such as the South China Sea / West Philippine Sea.
The convening of the IC-PSAP is timely considering that 2024 marks the 55th year of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore. This is also the first IC-PSAP convened in person since the pandemic with the 5th series being done virtually in 2021. END
