Secretary Manalo Discusses ASEAN-New Zealand Relations with New Zealand Ambassador to ASEAN

PASAY 28 February 2024 – Secretary Enrique A. Manalo met with the New Zealand Ambassador to ASEAN Stuard Donald Cave Calman to discuss long standing relations between ASEAN and New Zealand and pressing issues in the region.
During the meeting, Secretary Manalo emphasized that as two countries with significant maritime zones, the Philippines hopes to partner with New Zealand on maritime cooperation through ASEAN-led mechanisms.
On the forthcoming Philippines’ Chairship of ASEAN in 2026, Ambassador Calman expressed New Zealand’s full support and cooperation.
Secretary Manalo also welcomed activities to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue Relations in 2025 and even greater breakthroughs in relations.
The meeting was also attended by the New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell and Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Tim Given. END
