MADRID 08 March 2024 - The Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) met with officials from Spain’s Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with Parliament in Madrid, Spain to study the way Spain developed and implemented the e-Apostille and share best practices.
The Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Relations with Parliament is one of the Competent Authorities issuing Apostilles in Spain. The country ratified the Apostille Convention on 27 July 1978. It is the second country to fully implement the e-Apostille in 2011 and has extensive experience in e-Apostille development and implementation.
DFA-OCA also shared its own experience and best practices with the Competent Authorities in Spain. The study visit provided additional information and guidance to DFA-OCA’s implementation of the Apostille Convention and e-Apostille development which is set to launch on 19 March 2024. END
