FSI’s Foreign Service Officers’ Cadetship Course Batch XXX Commences

Assistant Secretary Montero turns over to Assistant Secretary Fernandez the 16 cadets to excel under the Institute’s revamped curriculum. 

PASAY 24 April 2024 – The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) launched its Foreign Service Officers’ Cadetship Course (FSOCC) for Batch XXX with an opening ceremony held on 15 April 2024. This six-month intensive training program, crafted for newly appointed FSO Class IVs, aims to refine their skills in promoting foreign policy objectives, advancing economic and security interests, and acquainting them with consular and diplomatic responsibilities.

Professor Evelyn O. Katigbak, Director of the Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy (CPRSD), warmly welcomed the 16 newly-commissioned FSOs, who have adopted the batch name of Subangan.

The revised FSOCC curriculum promises a blend of theoretical foundations and hands-on experiences. 

Assistant Secretary Christopher B. Montero, representing the Human Resources Management Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), officially handed over the 16 cadets to FSI, expressing confidence in its curriculum and the expertise of the Institute’s training team.

In his remarks, Assistant Secretary Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III, Director General of FSI, underlined the significance of providing cadets with skills that complement their academic backgrounds. He underscored FSI’s unwavering dedication to excellence and articulated his expectation for the FSO cadets to uphold the same standard.

The FSO cadets are expected to be joined by junior diplomats from Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Timor Leste during selected modules of the program as part of FSI’s commitment to promote ASEAN integration and collaboration. END
