SFA Manalo Welcomes UAE Foreign Minister, Discusses Dynamic PH-UAE Relations

PASAY 05 June 2024 – Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo met with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the Foreign Minister’s trip to Manila on 03 to 04 June 2024.
During the two ministers' meeting, Secretary Manalo recognized that PH-UAE relations are at its highest point ever since the two countries’ diplomatic relations began 50 years ago in 1974. PH-UAE relations have significantly grown in breadth and coverage in recent years, especially with the conclusion of agreements on various matters, including space cooperation, investment protection and promotion, agriculture, and climate change.
Secretary Manalo also noted the continuous high-level exchanges between the two countries to discuss a plethora of matters such as investments, renewable energy, tourism and transportation. Noting the robust exchanges between the two countries, the UAE Foreign Minister expressed his confidence that much more can be done in the coming years.
Prior to the meeting with the Secretary, the UAE Foreign Minister also had the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to the President and the First Lady.
The last visit of the UAE Foreign Minister to the Philippines was in October 2010. END
