Philippines to Host New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Right Honorable Winston Peters on 10 June 2024
MANILA 09 June 2024 – New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Rt. Hon. Winston Peters, will undertake an official visit to the Philippines this week. The visit underscores the longstanding and robust diplomatic ties between the Philippines and New Zealand and aims to further enhance cooperation and collaboration across various fields.
During the visit, Minister Peters will have discussions with Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, exploring opportunities to deepen existing cooperation on defense, economy, renewable energy, and people-to-people linkages, among others. They will likewise tackle regional developments of mutual concern to both countries.
Secretary Manalo and Foreign Minister Peters will also hold a Joint Press Conference. During the Joint Press Conference, Secretary Manalo and Foreign Minister Peters will witness the Signing Ceremony for the Agreement between the Anti-Red Tape Authority of the Philippines and the New Zealand Trade Enterprise on Ease of Doing Business.
The visit is particularly significant as both countries anticipate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in July 2026. It reaffirms the commitment of the Philippines and New Zealand to work closely together in advancing mutual interests and promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
