Philippines to Host Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa on 04 July 2024

MANILA 01 July 2024 – His Excellency Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will undertake an official visit to the Philippines this week. This will be Foreign Minister Maris’ first visit to the Philippines since he assumed his position on 03 May 2024.

During the visit, Secretary Enrique A. Manalo and Foreign Minister Maris will discuss bilateral areas of cooperation, including the proposed convening of the 6th Meeting of the Philippines-Thailand Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of common concern, including the situation in the South China Sea, Myanmar, and Gaza.

The visit takes place at an auspicious occasion when the Philippines and Thailand are celebrating this year the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations, which were established through the signing of a Treaty of Friendship in 1949. The Philippines and Thailand enjoy a robust relationship and are also fellow members of the ASEAN. END
