DFA Celebrates 57th ASEAN Day

MANILA 14 August 2024 - The Office of ASEAN Affairs, led by Assistant Secretary Daniel R. Espiritu, hosted the flag raising ceremony in celebration of ASEAN Day 2024. To mark the special occasion, the ASEAN Anthem, “The ASEAN Way” was played during the ceremony.
This year marks the 57th year anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which was established on 08 August 1967, with the signing of the foreign ministers of the five founding member states, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
In 2017, Presidential Proclamation No. 282 declared the month of August of every year as “ASEAN Month.”
This year’s celebrations also included the launch of the 57th ASEAN Day Anniversary logo on the Mall of Asia Globe, which will be viewable until the end of the week, and flying the ASEAN flag along Roxas Boulevard throughout the month. END
