KIDAPAWAN 21 August 2024 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office in Kidapawan proudly participated in the grand celebration of Kidapawan City's 77th Foundation Anniversary, known as "Kasadya sa Timpupo 2024", held from 8 August to 19 August 2024. The festival, themed "Luntian Kidapawan: Malinis na Kapaligiran, Gobyernong Maasahan, Disiplinadong Mamayan," highlighted the rich culture and traditions of the Kidapaweños.
The festivities commenced on 8 August 2024, with a city-wide clean-up drive, setting the tone for the entire celebration. The DFA Consular Office Kidapawan personnel headed by HCO Nadjefah B. Acampong-Mangondaya, together with various National agencies, private sectors, barangay LGUs, Kidapawan City PNP, Armed Force of the Philippines, government staff, students, and workers, joined forces in this communal effort. Each group was assigned specific areas to clean, reflecting the city's commitment to environmental preservation and the spirit of cooperation among its citizens.
The closing event on 19 August 2024, featured another clean-up drive, reinforcing the city's dedication to maintaining a clean and green environment. The DFA Consular Office Kidapawan's active involvement in both clean-up drives underscores its support for Kidapawan City's environmental initiatives.
In addition to the clean-up activities, the DFA Consular Office Kidapawan also took part in the Civic-Military Parade on 18 August 2024, a major highlight of the festival. The parade featured over 3,000 participants, including local government officials, barangay leaders, representatives from national and government sectors, uniformed personnel, private associations, and various organizations. The parade was led by Kidapawan City Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista, Vice Mayor Melvin E. Lamata, Jr., and the City Councilors.
Following the parade, a culmination program was held, graced by notable guests including Civil Service Commission Senior Commissioner Atty. Aileen Lourdes Lizada and Former Senate President Hon. Vicente Sotto III, who said in his speech that he authored the creation of the City of Kidapawan on 12 February 1998. The guests admired the city’s abundant fruits, and after delivering their messages, Mayor Evangelista initiated the Official Countdown to kick off the much-anticipated "Free Fruits Eat All You Can" event. The 1,500-meter-long table, laden with up to 25,000 kilos of fruits, welcomed all who wished to join in this joyous celebration.
The parade also featured spectacular Fruit Floats, which captivated the spectators and judges alike, further showcasing the city's agricultural bounty and creativity.
