DTI Undersecretary Shares Expertise to FSO Cadets

MANILA 20 September 2024 – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary for International Trade Group, Allan B. Gepty, led an expert training session on the Philippines’ external economic partnerships last 29 August 2024 before participants of the Foreign Service Officers’ Cadetship Course (FSOCC) – Batch XXX.

Commencing the Program on National Economic Development prepared by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) for FSOCC, Undersecretary Gepty elaborated on the principles, purpose, and outcomes of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement where he was the chief trade negotiator. He likewise provided a holistic landscape of the international trading infrastructure of the Philippines, providing a curated glimpse into the intricacies of trading regimes availed of by the Philippines in advancing its economic and development agenda. The lecture was also extended to select personnel of FSI and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The Institute continues to partner with different agencies and industry experts to share information and experiences for the comprehensive learning of various stakeholders. The Foreign Service Institute is the training and research office of the DFA. It was created under Presidential Decree No. 1060 and its role was expanded under Republic Act No. 7157. END
