MANILA 25 September 2024 – The Department of Foreign Affairs, through its Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), successfully conducted five runs of Regional Training on GAD Planning and Budgeting (GPB) for GAD Focal Point Officers (GFPOs) in the Home Office and Foreign Service Posts (FSPs).

The Training, which is in line with Goal 2 of the DFA’s GAD Agenda for CYs 2023 to 2028, aims to conduct an annual GPB workshop for GAD Planning and Budgeting to be integrated into the Department’s planning process.

The three-day Regional Training on GPB commenced in Manila on 26 to 28 June 2024 for GFPOs in the Home Office. Successive runs were organized for FSPs in the Middle East and Africa Region (17 to 19 July 2024), Asia and the Pacific Region (12 to 15 August 2024), Europe Region (04 to 06 September 2024), and Americas Region (18 to 20 September 2024). These were hosted by Cairo PE, Kuala Lumpur PE, Copenhagen PE, and Houston PCG, respectively.

Through the discussions led by GAD Specialists from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), the Training provided the participants with a remarkable opportunity to deepen their understanding and appreciation of a) gender analysis, b) policy imperatives in GAD Planning and Budgeting, c) gender issues and GAD mandates relevant to the DFA, d) formulation of GAD activities based on the GAD Agenda, and e) the process and timeline for submitting GPBs.

HRMO Assistant Secretary Christopher B. Montero commended the GFPOs for their unwavering dedication and substantial contributions to the DFA’s long-term gender and development goals. He emphasized their essential role in strengthening the Department’s capacity to fully integrate GAD principles into its policies and programs. END
