DFA-OIER Meets Honorary Consul of the Philippines to Romania to Explore Opportunities for Promoting Investments in the Philippines
DFA-OIER Assistant Secretary Paul Vincent L. Uy, joined by DFA- Internal Audit Service (IAS) Assistant Secretary Noel M. Servigon, meets the Romanian business delegation, led by Mr. Simon Andreas Maurer, Honorary Consul of the Philippines to Romania.
MANILA 04 October 2024 – The DFA Office of International Economic Relations (OIER), led by Assistant Secretary Paul Vincent L. Uy, met with Mr. Simon Andreas Maurer, Honorary Consul of the Philippines to Romania today to discuss bilateral economic relations between the Philippines and Romania, including potential investments in the Philippines, updates on the Philippine trade and tourism sectors, Filipino workers in Romania, and opportunities for developing long-lasting economic relationships between the two countries. OIER was joined by Assistant Secretary of the Office of Internal Audit Service (IAS) and incoming Philippine Ambassador to Romania, H.E Noel M. Servigon.
During the meeting, Assistant Secretary Uy delivered a powerpoint presentation on the status of investments in the Philippines, highlighting the robust GDP growth rates of the country, which enabled the economy to sustain steady growth for the past few years. He also underscored the Government’s economic strategy guided by clear agenda frameworks, which serve as the basis of OIER’s strategic platform for promoting the Philippines overseas.
The Romanian delegation, headed by Honorary Consul Mr. Simon Andreas Maurer, presented its business proposals, which featured the real estate and energy sectors. The former was presented in the context of a concept called “AddRest Space Saving Solution,” which was developed by Mr. Maurer himself, an innovative businessman specializing in real estate. He said that his proposal aims to promote direct applications to various industries to ensure efficient use of resources.
The second business proposal introduced the concept of waste management and treatment processes in the Philippines to enhance optimal use of energy in processing wastes. Mr. Constantine Vuscan, Partner and Associate of Maurer Energy, stated that Romania is continuously researching on multiple ways of obtaining or increasing the production of clean energy with patented solutions, and this idea is one of their revolutionary concepts.
Meanwhile, as incoming Philippine Ambassador to Romania, IAS Assistant Secretary Noel Servigon welcomed the delegation and expressed support for possible future collaboration between the two countries on socio-economic areas. END
