FSI Receives Highest Commendations from DBM Among Related Agencies

MANILA 04 November 2024 – The  Foreign Service Institute (FSI) received the most favorable commendations from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) in the latter’s regular conduct of Agency Performance Review for the first semester of FY2024. This indicates that the Institute’s budget utilization rate, both in obligation and disbursement, is in line with its committed plans and programs. This accomplishment can be attributed to the new training programs initiated by the agency and the expanded engagement with external stakeholders which significantly made an impact on the completion of its research documents/papers.

The DBM conducts Agency Performance Review (APR) annually and semi-annually, covering physical, financial and income performance, to monitor and review the agencies’ performances, particularly utilization of government funds vis-à-vis/targets.

In her letter dated 27 September 2024 to Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique A. Manalo, Chair of the FSI Board, DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman noted that: “The FSI was able to achieve and even exceeded all of its targets for the period January to June of FY 2024.” She rated FSI with “Commendable Performance,” the most favorable assessment, for both its Financial Performance and Physical Accomplishments for the same period.

FSI continues to excel in the delivery of its services and continues to receive the most favorable assessment from national government agencies tasked to evaluate performances of government agencies in relation to declared national standards.

The Foreign Service Institute is the research and training office of the Department of Foreign Affairs, which was created under Presidential Decree No. 1060 and whose remit was expanded under Republic Act No. 7157.
