​​​PH Participates in 17th High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision, Stakeholder Interface, and Regional Consultation on the Review of ASEAN Community Vision 2025

VIETNAM 05 November 2024 – The Philippines participated in a series of meetings held in Hoi An, Vietnam on 29 October - 01 November, which aimed at shaping the future direction of the ASEAN Community to allow it to develop into a dynamic, resilient, innovative and people-centered regional organization.

At the 17th High-Level Task Force on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision  (HLTF-ACV), the HLTF-ACV’s interface with stakeholders on the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, and  the  regional consultation on the review of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025,  the Philippines advocated for the continued  institutional strengthening of ASEAN, enhancement of ASEAN Centrality in principle and in practice, and the realistic assessment of how ASEAN has been able to fulfill its goals in the political/security, economic, socio-cultural  and connectivity pillars.  In view of the complex challenges and emerging trends facing the region, the Philippines emphasized that the institutional strengthening of ASEAN will enhance ASEAN’s capability to meet the demands of the future and effectively serve the needs of its peoples. 

Ambassador Buensuceso also called for stronger cross-pillar coordination across ASEAN’s Community Pillars and ASEAN Connectivity, emphasizing that a cohesive and integrated response across all pillars is essential to ensuring a resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centered ASEAN Community by 2045.

Ambassador Luis Cruz headed the Philippine Delegation in the negotiations for the APSC Strategic Plan, which completed its third reading of the document. The Strategic Plan is part of the ACV 2045 which will be launched by ASEAN Leaders in 2025.

During the interface with stakeholders, the Philippines also conveyed its gratitude to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA) for providing meteorological information on typhoon Kristine and delivering critical relief items, including 450 family kits, 3,500 hygiene kits, and 300 tarpaulins worth USD 80,000.00. The Philippine delegation also thanked Singapore and Malaysia which sent assets to help in the search and rescue operations. END
