BEIRUT 14 November 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Beirut successfully facilitated the repatriation of seven Overseas Filipinos from Lebanon on 13 November 2024. These Overseas Filipinos, despite having established permanent residency in Lebanon, made the difficult decision to return to the Philippines due to the security risks caused by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the region.
The Embassy, in close coordination with local authorities and relevant government agencies, ensured that the repatriation process was carried out smoothly, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the Filipino nationals involved. The decision to leave Lebanon was prompted by the heightened dangers associated with the ongoing hostilities, which have put civilians in the region at significant risk.
The Philippine Embassy remains committed to safeguarding the interests of Filipinos abroad, particularly during times of conflict and crisis. It continues to monitor the situation in Lebanon closely and stands ready to assist any Filipino nationals who may need support or wish to return to the Philippines due to the current security challenges.
Filipinos in Lebanon are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow safety protocols, and reach out to the Embassy for any assistance that they may require. The Embassy assures the Filipino community that it will continue to provide timely and essential services to those in need. END
