FSI Continues Training and Research Outreach Program in CO Dasmariñas

DASMARIÑAS 22 November 2024 – The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) continues its Training and Research Outreach (TRO) Program with its latest session in the Consular Office (CO) in Dasmariñas. In its fifth installment, at the request of the Consular Office, the FSI team shared their knowledge and understanding of Basic Written Communication and Maximizing Social Media for Information Dissemination to the 20 personnel of CO – Dasmariñas.
FSI Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy’s (CPRSD) Training Officer Arianne Joy P. Mendoza shared the fundamentals of effective written communication by emphasizing the 5Cs (Correct, Cohesive, Coherent, Concrete, and Complete). Further, she underscored how the effectiveness of a correspondence lies in the clarity of its substance.
For Maximizing Social Media for Information Dissemination, Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies’ (CIRSS) Migration Studies Section Chief Researcher Ma. Anna Katerina C. Fulgencio discussed how the CO can optimize the use of social media platforms. Additionally, she shared tips in designing information materials – from design principles to ensuring consistent branding.
The TRO Program is designed to respond to the training requests of consular offices. This aims to provide fundamental knowledge and understanding on various topics deemed significant and relevant in the wide-ranging consular work of CO personnel. To date, personnel from the Consular Offices in Iloilo City; Angeles, Pampanga; Dumaguete; Zamboanga City; and Dasmariñas, Cavite have availed of the training sessions offered by FSI under its TRO Program since it was initiated on 17 October 2024.
FSI is the training and research agency attached to the Department of Foreign Affairs which was created under Presidential Decree No. 1060 and whose role was expanded under Republic Act No. 7157. The FSI Board is chaired by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, with the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Director General of FSI, President of the University of the Philippines (UP), and President of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) as members.
