Manalo meets with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See in the Vatican on 21 November 2024

HOLY SEE 29 November 2024 - During his official visit to Italy for the expanded session of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Summit, Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo met with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, at the Vatican on 21 November 2024.

The Secretary for Relations with States is the Holy See’s equivalent of a foreign minister.

The meeting follows Archbishop Gallagher’s recent visit to the Philippines in July 2024. The Secretary and the Archbishop discussed ongoing collaborations on important global issues, including climate change, peace, and migration. They also exchanged views on regional matters of mutual concern, such as the situation in the West Philippine Sea.

As the Catholic Church prepares for its Jubilee Year in 2025, the Secretary noted that many Filipinos from around the world are likely to commemorate the event with a pilgrimage to the Vatican in the coming months. He said the Philippines was ready to work with the Holy See to ensure the Jubilee’s success. END
