“Public Spaces: Are Your Children Safe?” – DFA Ladies Foundation Raises Awareness on Child Safety and Security
MANILA 29 November 2024 – In observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), the DFA Ladies Foundation, Inc. (DFALF) hosted a webinar entitled “Public Spaces: Are Your Children Safe?” with the aim of providing practical tips on keeping children safe while outside the home.
In her opening remarks, DFALF President Celia Anna M. Feria said, “Many of us here care for children in varying roles - as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents, and guardians. As such, we all have the shared responsibility to ensure that children are able to play, learn, and explore the world outside their homes, safely and without any fear.”
Serving as resource speaker was Police Corporal (PCpl) Jill S. Clave, an investigator from the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Pasay City Police. With 14 years’ worth of experience under her belt, Pcpl Clave shared public safety tips based on child abuse cases she has investigated. “Encourage your children to speak up and seek assistance, if they feel threatened or unsafe;” PCpl Clave reiterated to the audience during her presentation.
More than 80 participants from the DFA Main Office, Consular Offices, and Foreign Service Posts worldwide attended. ENDDFALF President Celia Anna Feria emphasized in her remarks the shared responsibility in ensuring a safe environment for children.
