Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren to Undertake Official Visit to the Philippines

MANILA 06 December 2024 – The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, Hon. Alberto van Klaveren, will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on 06 December 2024.

Philippine Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Enrique A. Manalo, will receive Minister van Klaveren and his delegation for a bilateral meeting, during which they will engage in discussions that will assess the current state of relations and consider opportunities to advance the relationship. The Secretary and Minister van Klaveren are expected to exchange views on a range of issues including trade and investments, cooperation in disaster risk reduction and management, and cooperation in the multilateral arena. In September this year, Secretary Manalo and Minister van Klaveren co-chaired the ASEAN-Pacific Alliance Ministerial Meeting in New York.

Following his meeting with Secretary Manalo, Minister van Klaveren will meet with DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer Roque, building on the outcomes of the recent PH - Chile Joint Economic Committee (JEC) Meeting held in Santiago, Chile on 8 November 2024. Minister van Klaveren is also scheduled to call on President Marcos at the Malacañan Palace.

Minister van Klaveren’s visit sends a strong signal of Chile’s commitment to its relations with the Philippines, and affirms the high importance that both countries attach to the bilateral relationship. END
