Foreign Service Institute Implements Fifth Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar for Foreign Service Personnel
MANILA 06 December 2024 — The Foreign Service Institute – Transition Programs Section (FSI – TPS) concluded the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar for Foreign Service Personnel (PDOS for FSP) Batch 5-2024 held from 18 to 22 November 2024 at the Institute’s training room.
PDOS for FSP is designed for DFA and Partner Agency personnel who are scheduled to be deployed abroad for their first overseas assignment. The seminar aims to orient participants on the functions and work of Foreign Service establishments, prepare them for relocation to a foreign environment, and create awareness on the need for cross-cultural adaptation. It further intends to acquaint participants with the challenges that may be commonly encountered while on overseas assignment, thus equipping them with the basic tools to respond more efficiently and effectively to situations at work.
Twenty-two personnel participated in this PDOS, six of whom are from DFA, while sixteen are from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), one of DFA’s partner agencies. END
