DFA Consular Office Legazpi Celebrates Volunteer Month with Outreach Program in Gigmoto, Catanduanes
LEGAZPI December 13, 2024 – In celebration of the 2024 National Volunteer Month, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office Legazpi, in collaboration with the Regional Consular Office Bicol Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative and the Parish of San Pedro Calungsod, conducted a meaningful outreach program on 07 December 2024. This initiative took place in Barangay Sicmil in Gigmoto, Catanduanes, a municipality that was impacted by Super Typhoon “Pepito”.
The DFA team, along with the members of RCOBEMP Cooperative, distributed essential goods to 40 families from Barangays Sicmil and Sioron. The items included hygiene kits, water jugs, and buckets with dippers, which are vital for improving the living conditions of those severely affected.
The outreach program aimed to support and help the local community, particularly those families who are struggling to recover from the devastation brought by the typhoon. It also exemplified the DFA Consular Office's and its cooperative’s commitment to community service and solidarity, especially during challenging times.
The DFA Consular Office Legazpi encourages everyone to engage in volunteer efforts, reinforcing the spirit of “Bayanihan” and community resilience in times of adversity. END
