18 July 2014 - Acting Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow met with Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario on July 18 to discuss the current situation in Thailand, bilateral relations, and other issues of mutual concern.

Acting Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak briefed the Secretary on the current political situation in Thailand and presented the three-step roadmap for the restoration of democracy in Thailand.  Secretary Del Rosario expressed hope for the success of the national reconciliation process in Thailand consistent with democratic principles, the rule of law, and the will and interest of the Thai people.

Both foreign ministers also discussed the progress in bilateral relations and agreed to identify other areas of cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the West Philippine Sea and reaffirmed their commitment for the expeditious conclusion of a code of conduct and a peaceful resolution of the disputes.

The Acting Foreign Minister conveyed his appreciation for the warm hospitality accorded them by the Secretary and the Philippine side. END
