MANILA 20 December 2024 — The DFA Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) donated basic necessities to the children of Nayon ng Kabataan in Mandaluyong City on 29 November 2024. This initiative was made possible through the success of the 4th OCA Bazaar, themed “OCA Christmas Bazaar: All Stars Edition,” which was held from 11 to 15 November 2024 at DFA Aseana.

In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, the bazaar featured 25 merchants from around the Philippines, showcasing a variety of locally-produced foods, beverages, and products ranging from clothes to skincare, accessories, and local delicacies. The event’s primary goal is to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them with opportunities to promote and sell their products.

The beneficiary of the fourth OCA Bazaar was the Nayon ng Kabataan, a children's home in Mandaluyong City, in celebration of Children’s Month this November. Funds raised from participation fees were used to purchase essential items for the children. A total of 180 hygiene kits, 180 pieces of plastic bowls, plates, and cups, sports equipment, one (1) wireless Jukebox, Karaoke and Music Speaker, and other identified necessities were formally turned over to the center.

The turnover event was led by Ms. Ana Angela Cabillan, Principal Assistant and Gender and Development (GAD) focal point person of OCA, along with representatives from the GAD Focal Point System and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of OCA. The event also included fun activities such as games and a talent show, providing an opportunity for OCA personnel to engage with and bond with the children.

Through this initiative, OCA hopes to inspire joy and optimism for a brighter future for the children at the center.  OCA also reaffirms its commitment to supporting the advocacy of Nayon ng Kabataan and joins the nationwide call for a safe and nurturing environment for all children - our nation’s future and hope.
