DFA, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Affirm Mutual Support Towards Intensified Partnership

MANILA 27 January 2025 - OECD Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) Yoshiki Takeuchi called on DFA Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and International Economic Relations (UMAIER) Charles C. Jose on 21 January 2025 to discuss ongoing developments deepening cooperation between the Philippines and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The call is the culmination of the OECD’s two day visit program in the Philippines, which included the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Co-operative Activities between NEDA and OECD to strengthen collaboration in shared interests, such as infrastructure, environment, investment and sustainability through increased technical and strategic engagement, as well as improved information sharing and policy dialogue. It also aims to facilitate Philippine participation in OECD bodies and alignment with OECD standards to support national economic and financial development.
Other topics discussed were the recent release of the OECD Report on “Promoting the Growth of the Semiconductor Ecosystem in the Philippines”; final OECD fact-finding mission in Manila to supplement the interim policy paper on corporate governance and reform of Philippine State-Owned Enterprises (SOE); Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP); and inclusion for the first time of the Philippines in OECD’s Economic Survey.
Undersecretary Jose thanked OECD for its continued engagement with the Philippines and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to its strong relationship with the OECD, highlighting the importance of ongoing collaboration to achieve shared development goals.
