DFA Conducts Protocol and Liaison Officer’s Training for Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR) Personnel for the 2nd ASEAN Regional Corrections Conference

MANILA 06 February 2025 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) conducted a one-day training on diplomatic protocol and liaison officer duties at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Headquarters in Quezon City. The training aimed to equip personnel from BJMP and the Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR) with the necessary skills in preparation for the Philippine hosting of the 2nd ASEAN Regional Corrections Conference (ARCC), scheduled for 13-17 February 2025 in Palawan.
Jointly hosted by BJMP and BUCOR, the training was facilitated by a team from the DFA Office of Protocol, led by Acting Director O’myr Faisal Mustafa C. Abdalla, with the assistance of Assistant Director Irineo Fidel Z. Cornista, Ms. Nova L. De Lara, and Mr. Bernard Bartolome.
A total of 45 participants, attending both in person and online, were introduced to the fundamentals of diplomatic and ceremonial protocols. The training provided practical insights into the duties and responsibilities of liaison officers, with participants engaging in simulation exercises to enhance their understanding and preparedness for the event.
The DFA remains committed to strengthening the Philippines' capability to host and manage international events, ensuring professionalism and efficiency in all aspects of protocol and liaison officer functions. END
