Philippines, Slovenia Push Forward Bilateral Ties Through First Political Consultations

LJUBLJANA 06 FEBRUARY 2025 – The Philippines and Slovenia convened the inaugural Political Consultations on 05 February 2025 in Ljubljana. The meeting, held at Vila Podrožnik, is the first bilateral consultations since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1993.
DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro led the Philippine delegation, while the Slovenian side was led by Mr. Marko Štucin, State Secretary for European and Political Affairs, International Law and the Protection of Interests of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
The meeting saw discussions on political, economic, and multilateral cooperation, and also identified opportunities for possible cooperation in the areas of science and technology, nuclear energy, space, ICT, tourism, education, sports and labor.
The co-chairs also had an exchange of views on various international and regional issues such as the situation in the West Philippine Sea and security in the wider Indo-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
The Philippines will host the next bilateral consultations meeting in Manila. END
