Philippines Hosts High-level Task Force Meeting on the ASEAN Community Vision 2045

MANILA 07 February 2025 – The Philippines hosted the 21st meeting of the High-Level Task Force on the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 (HLTF-ACV 2045). The Meeting, co-chaired by the Philippines and Malaysia, was attended by the Eminent Persons and High-Level Representatives of ASEAN Member States, the Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, co-Chairs of the Ad-Hoc Working Group to Develop the ASCC Post-2025 Strategic Plan (ASCC AHWG), and Chair of ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC). The Chair of the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting (SEOM) and ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting Responsible for Information and Media (SOMRI) attended the meeting virtually.
The HLTF-ACV adopted the finalized APSC Strategic Plan. They also discussed the development of Strategic Plans of the other ASEAN Community Pillars and ASEAN Connectivity to ensure their adoption at the 46th ASEAN Summit on 26-27 May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The compendium of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 will consist of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, the ASEAN Political-Security Community Strategic Plan, the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan, the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Strategic Plan and the ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan. These documents detail ASEAN’s vision for a dynamic, innovative, responsive, and people-centered ASEAN Community.
The HLTF-ACV also discussed the monitoring and evaluation tools to be employed for the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 to ensure the accurate evaluation of the impact of the strategic plans on the lives of people. The need to create a communication plan to socialize the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 to the peoples of ASEAN was also a point of discussion during the meeting.
H. E. Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Eminent Person of HLTF-ACV Philippines, also hosted a Welcome Dinner for the delegates on 4 February 2025. The soprano duo Katrina Marie Saga and Bernadette Mamaug of the Nightingales performed a Filipino medley for the delegates from ASEAN Member States to showcase the talents of the Filipino people. The Nightingales’ performance is part of the NCCA’s initiatives in celebration of the National Arts Month 2025 this February. END
