DFA Undersecretary Lazaro Delivers PH Foreign Policy Lecture at University of Ljubljana

DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro delivers a lecture at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana

LJUBLJANA 10 FEBRUARY 2025 – DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa Lazaro visited the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana on 06 February 2025 to deliver a lecture on the Independent Foreign Policy of the Philippines.

Students and faculty members of the University of Ljubljana and selected members of the diplomatic corps attended the lecture.

Undersecretary Lazaro explained the Philippines' pursuit of an independent foreign policy, with a focus on security in the West Philippine Sea and the protection of Overseas Filipinos all over the world. She also provided a background on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for the audience.

On Philippines-Slovenia relations, Undersecretary Lazaro expressed optimism that relations between the two countries will be further strengthened in the years ahead with the opening of the Slovenian Embassy in Manila.

After the lecture, Undersecretary Lazaro held a question-and-answer session to engage the audience and elaborate further on the presented topics.

The Undersecretary’s lecture at the University of Ljubljana was conducted during her visit to Ljubljana for the inaugural Philippines-Slovenia Political Consultations. END
