HANOI 28 February 2025 – As part of her working visit to Viet Nam, Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Ha Noi. The two senior diplomats had a friendly and wide-ranging discussion on deepening the fruitful strategic partnership between the Philippines and Viet Nam. They welcomed the broadening scope and increasing areas of collaboration between the two countries in the maritime domain and in economic interaction, as well as the regular high-level engagements that are set to take place in the coming months.
They also exchanged views on the need to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN claimant states in the South China Sea, emphasizing that the peace and security of the region will always remain a global concern.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Philippines-Viet Nam Strategic Partnership, which bodes well for the celebration of the 50th year of diplomatic relations in 2026. END
