OCA Enhances Disaster Preparedness with Go-Bag and Hard Hat Distribution

MANILA 06 March 2025 — The Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Consular Affairs distributed Go-Bags and hard hats to its OCA personnel on 21 February 2025 at the DFA-OCA Ground Floor Lobby. Led by Assistant Secretary Adelio Angelito S. Cruz, this initiative aimed to enhance the office’s disaster risk management and preparedness.
Representatives from the eight OCA divisions, namely Office of the Assistant Secretary, Office of the Executive Director, Visa Division, Authentication Division, Civil Registry Division, Passport Division, Consular Office Coordination Division, and Finance and Administrative Division, were given Go-Bags and hard hats to be disseminated to their respective divisions.
Hard hats were provided for each personnel in the Office as well as go bags which include essentials for emergency situations such as batteries, emergency blankets, a Swiss Army knife, matches and a lighter, a reusable cold or hot compress pack, a waterproof flashlight, toilet paper, a first aid kit, duct tape, insect bite repellent, soap, tooth brush with toothpaste, a bottle of water and energy bars.
In his opening remarks, Assistant Secretary Cruz emphasized the importance of disaster readiness by sharing his experiences during his assignment in Libya. The Assistant Secretary further highlighted the significance of pagkakaisa in times of calamity by stating, “Ituring ang isa’t-isa bilang miyembro ng kapamilya.”
Through this endeavor, DFA-OCA hopes to enlighten its personnel regarding the urgency of disaster risk reduction management. Additionally, OCA reaffirms its commitment in ensuring a safe environment to the public and its employees. END
