COMELEC Conducts Regional Training for DFA Personnel Serving the 2025 Philippine National Elections

MANILA 07 March 2025 — The Commission on Elections-Office for Overseas Voting (COMELEC-OFOV), through the Department of Foreign Affairs – Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA-OVS) conducted the first of four regional trainings on the General Instructions for the members of the Special Electoral Boards for the 2025 National Elections Overseas, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 24 to 26 February 2025. The participants were foreign service personnel from the Middle East and Africa region who had been deputized by the COMELEC to serve in the special electoral boards for the month-long elections for overseas voters from 13 April to 12 May 2025.

The training was designed to provide the special electoral boards with extensive knowledge on the procedures and processes of the online voting and counting system and enable them to administer the elections overseas. 

As part of the requirements under COMELEC Resolution No. 11061, a representative from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was also present to evaluate the deputized SBEIs of the participating Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) and to certify them as IT-capable. 

The OVCS will be implemented in seventy-seven (77) Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) including the Manila Economic Cultural Offices (MECOs), while sixteen (16) FSPs will be using the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) for the forthcoming 2025 National Elections. END
