MANILA 14 April 2025 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) conducted a series of one-day trainings on diplomatic protocol and social graces for personnel of the National Youth Commission (NYC) and Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) on 2 and 4 April 2025, respectively.
On 4 April 2025, DFA-OP Director Gilbert Segarra served as resource speaker during the Training on International Relations and Diplomacy for Landbank Overseas Representatives, organized by the Foreign Service Institute’s Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy. The training forms part of the preparations for the deployment of Landbank personnel to their overseas assignments this April. Director Segarra’s session focused on key elements of diplomatic and ceremonial protocol, equipping participants with the practical knowledge needed for effective representation abroad.
While, on 2 April, a team from DFA-OP led by Acting Director O’Myr Faisal Mustafa C. Abdalla, with the assistance of Ms. Nova L. De Lara, conducted protocol training for more than 50 NYC personnel at the NYC Central Office in Quezon City. The session was held in preparation for NYC’s upcoming hosting of the ASEAN Youth in Climate Action and Disaster Resilience (YCADR) Conference and the Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) XIV, both to be held in Manila later this month.
Both training sessions introduced participants to the fundamentals of diplomatic and ceremonial protocol, such as the proper procedures for welcoming foreign delegates and managing high-level engagements. Each session featured simulation exercises that provided practical experience in formal diplomatic scenarios, helping participants build confidence and competence in international representation. END
