24 July 2014 - The third batch of outstanding young Filipino-American leaders, selected from all over the United States by the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., arrives today in Manila for a week-long immersion program in Philippine economic and social development policy.

 

The 10 young Filipino-American leaders are:

1.    Edward Aparis (Chula Vista, California) – Consultant at the Strands Group

2.    Ryyn Chua (Gardena, California) – Founder and CEO of Double Y Entertainment

3.    Rommel Clemente (Milpitas, California) – Supervising Senior Associate for the Connor Group

4.    Adette Contreras (Brooklyn, New York) – Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi, Co-Founder and Partner at Tinsel & Twine

5.    Michael Dahilig (Lihue, Hawaii) – Director of the Department of Planning at the County of Kauai in Hawaii

6.    Rafael Diokno (Washington, D.C.) – Project Lead at SGT, Inc.,

7.    Abbey Eusebio (Lincolnwood, Illinois) – Constituent Advocate at the Office of US Representative Jan Schakowsky

8.    Jan Paul Ferrer (Tinley Park, Illinois) – Associate Vice President at Morgan Stanley

9.    Ryan Letada (New York, New York) – CEO and co-founder of Next Day Better Inc.,

10. Jason Tengco (Washington, D.C.) – Senior Advisor at the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

Delegates of the Filipino-American Youth Leadership Program, or “FYLPro,” are being groomed as leaders of their communities, partners in advancing interests of Filipino- Americans, and agents for forging closer Philippines-United States relations. 

 

The week-long program, prepared by the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. in close partnership with the Ayala Foundation, Inc., will include calls on the highest government officials and policymakers in the Philippines; dialogue with young government officials and young elected officials; meetings with the officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs; and meetings with young industry leaders, entrepreneurs and  innovators in different fields.

 

 

The program kicks off tonight with a welcome dinner for the delegates hosted by Philippine Ambassador to the United States, Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. Delegates will also be given a guided tour of the Ayala Museum, courtesy of Ayala Foundation, Inc., followed by a networking event with Tech Entrepreneurs that has been funded by local investment firm Kickstart Ventures, Inc.
