MANILA 03 July 2025 — During the celebration of the 127th founding anniversary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on 01 July 2025, the Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD) proudly launched its latest publication, “History of the Department of Foreign Affairs 1992–2024.” This is a record of over three decades of the DFA’s evolution as one of the first established government agencies.

Building on its predecessor, “History of the Department of Foreign Affairs 1898–1991,” it captures the Department’s continued transformation and adaptation in the face of shifting global dynamics.

The book documents the Department’s milestones, challenges, and achievements across various Administrations and Secretaries of Foreign Affairs. It also highlights the Philippines’ diplomatic efforts in strengthening international ties and advancing national interests on the global stage.

During the launch, the OPD presented a video to emphasize and highlight the Department’s historical journey and enduring legacy. The video can be accessed through: https://youtu.be/ol6m64GGkh4.

During the launch, OPD personnel led by Assistant Secretary Arvin de Leon presented copies of the publication to outgoing Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo and incoming Secretary of  Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro.

Copies have also been distributed to Philippine Embassies, Consulates General, Permanent Missions overseas, and Consular Offices across the country. To ensure wider public access, the OPD deposited copies with the National Library of the Philippines and made the publication available online.

The general public may access the digital copy of “History of the Department of Foreign Affairs 1992–2024” through https://tinyurl.com/2vu92yju. For the “History of the Department of Foreign Affairs 1898-1991,” access is through: https://tinyurl.com/25nk6dcz. END
