MANILA 06 August 2025 – Personnel of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) who are handling procurement matters will soon receive a 3-day comprehensive training on Republic Act No. 12009, also known as the “New Government Procurement Act” (NGPA). This was announced by Undersecretary Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega who is also the DFA’s Head of Procuring Entity or HoPE. The training, conducted by the Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO) began on 06 August 2025 and will be held until 08 August 2025 in Manila.
GPPB-TSO has been conducting trainings, dubbed as 'RA 12009 NGPA Caravan,” for procuring entities such as the DFA since the new government procurement law came into effect in August last year. The training aims to enhance the knowledge and mastery of concerned personnel of the new procurement modalities, new procurement forms and procedures under the NGPA. In the case of the DFA, the training will significantly help empower its personnel responsible for managing procurement processes within their respective offices and units, especially given the frequent rotation of its workforce. “Regular and continuous review and skills improvement will keep our personnel informed and expertly equipped on various procurement processes, significantly contributing to the Department’s efficient and effective procurement operations and optimal budget utilization,” Undersecretary De Vega said.
