25 February 2015 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will be launching Philippine Fiestas and Festivals: Photography by Donald C. Tapan on 03 March 2015, 4:00 p.m., at the Main Lobby of the DFA Main Building in Pasay City.
The exhibit launch will feature lively dances and colorful costumes from festivals all over the archipelago, including Ati-atihan, Masskara, Sinulog, Panagbengga, and Higantes, as performed by the Bagitos Tribe.
Together with the Filipino Heritage Festivals, Inc. (FHFI) who provided the annotations for the exhibit, Mr. Donald Tapan gives the audience a glimpse of the unique and creative Filipino cultural identity through his photographs of fiestas and festivals which are celebrated all over the Philippines.
Philippine Fiestas and Festivals: Photography by Donald C. Tapan is part of the series of traveling exhibits on Philippine culture being developed jointly by the DFA and NCCA to be exhibited in the Philippine Foreign Service Posts in China, Hong Kong and Macau. The traveling exhibits showcase Philippine society and culture to audiences in China to build greater mutual understanding and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially this year which marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-China diplomatic relations.
